Linda E. R. De Vries

Linda de Vries is an educator, business leader, business developer, international regulatory role player as well as an author. As chairperson of the National Gambling board of South Africa (2010 current), she has a range of regulatory experiences such as gambling, as well as auditing and education. She served as Chairperson of the Western Cape Gamming board (2002-2007) as well as a member of the International Association of Gaming Regulators steering committee (IAGRA) until 2007. She was also the vice chairperson of the Independent auditor’s Regulatory board (IRBA) since 2007-2011. In all these roles she served in a leadership capacity for government agencies.

She studied in USA (SUNY-Albany), University Stellenbosch and University of the Western Cape (South Africa). She is Professor in the School of Business and Finance at the University Western Cape where she has mentored students for over 30 years. She has led a number of entrepreneurial and economic development initiatives pertaining to countries such as Namibia, Peru and South Africa. She participated as an advisory role player in various agencies such as NEPAD, OSSREA, USAID, as evaluator and task team member and also specialist contributing to inputs on trade, market access. Her role as public sector role player and research leader allowed her to be Vice President for OSSREA, a research agency on the continent for East and Southern Africa. She also served as a board member of SANPAD, a research development agency between Netherlands and South Africa. Over the past years she was instrumental in the evaluation and monitoring of the commitments made to African countries by donors and governments through the Nepad agenda

She is a co-author of many university and school textbooks. Some of her many titles includes the latest university texts co-authored with Oxford University- International Marketing (2012), Van Schaik publishers also Pearson Publishing which includes Business Management–A Fresh Perspective (2005, 2007, and 2008 Others includes (Entrepreneurship (2009, and 2014), Econofun (1994), EMS Learning for grades 4 and 8 etc .She also working on a chapter on governance and public policy for international publication.

Her community empowerment role includes her leadership as Chairperson of World Vision South Africa- 1999-2001, founder of YIELD ( ,leadership in SAGE for the country and SIFE, Her women empowerment work includes that of SAWEF, SAWEN and VUYA and KWILT( Kingdom Women in Leadership and Transformation ( 2008-2012) which benefitted more than 2000 women to discover the skills and opportunities for change in the province and country.

She served as board member and chairperson on number of business companies such as KFM radio, Van Schaik Booksellers, Ore Group, Broad cape as well as Vuya amongst others.
